For a start there is ZERO oil anywhere in the bag, this filter is pre-oiled and made (according to the stamp) 28-04-2015. This straight away gives me some confidence of the level of care that goes into the product. no oil seeping out of the bag, unlike K&N which are always swimming in oil and sometimes remnants of leakage in the cardboard box.
Mine leaked too. This is not uncommon at all in our gtis. Mechanic pros I went to saw that VW only installs 6 out of 8 bolts on the RMS and my leak occurred right where one bolt was left off. If ur ding tranny work, replace the RMS and bring extra bolts. Gl.

San Francisco Bay Area. Nov 28, 2018. #4. Only point of the fuel injector cleaner is to do exactly what it says on the tin, clean the injector. It's not all bad though, our PCV system is actually rather good at managing carbon buildup. It's so good in fact that unless you plan on tracking your car, there's virtually no reason to run a catch can
An update on the recently announced global recall by VW. The dealer phoned me earlier today and my 2013-built MK7 DSG is included in the recall. I have an appointment with them tomorrow to get it sorted. As I understand, it is just a simple oil change that will (reportedly) prolong the
Posted November 2, 2017. Look on the ECS website at their billet housings and download the instructions they’re quite good but basically yes you need to transfer the central filter support over to the new housing. It can be done without leaking oil just remove the filler cap then the oil will drop into the sump.
As for sticking with OEM and not one of those metal aftermarket ones. The lower half is still plastic and using a metal filter cap can actually weld it together. Plenty of guys found out the hard way on forums and groups. Buy the proper filter housing socket too.
Took some photos of an oil leak. It looks to me like a rear main seal leak. Oil was a high as the starter, most of the leak was concentrated on the transmission mount arm. I cleaned it up and will see where it goes from here. Feels and smells like engine oil.
In the subsequent 6000 miles it consumed about 1/2-3/4 a quart. So it either slowed down a lot after break in, or it was low from the factory (you do the maths). I have some other oil / engine issues though. Need to see a dealer. Some consume zero oil, some consume a little.
My work golf is on the long life service regime. The max distance interval is actually 30,000 Kms so that equates to 18,750 miles. As I do 30K miles a year it does mean that I only have to get it serviced every six months or so! It's fine for a lease car that you get to hand back after 3 years but my wife's golf gets an annual/10K mile oil
Autozone carries M1 ESP in 5qrt jugs for around $34, ship to store and pick up or ship to home, still need 6qts and a filter so prices are still pretty reasonable. Thought an update might be in order, AutoZone has the oil change bundle and you can get 5qt of the new Mobil ESP X3 0w-40 + STP filter element for $39.
Heya Mk7 R friends, So I have had my Mk7 R now for about 8 months. I absolutely adore this car, but I concerned about my Haldex. Out here in Cali, we have had a very dry winter until this week. I have read a ton about the Haldex failures on the early R's, S3's and A3's. Yesterday. after a solid day of rain, I really got on the gas at a stop sign.
